Politics can and does happen on everything in the dear country. Politics on foreign policy and politics on internal issues, politics on law and politics on court, politics on religion to economy, politics on personal to business life.

Many buildings and houses were washed away in Swat.
More than 1000 people have died due to floods in Pakistan.

There is hardly any nation more politically active than us. This multiplicity of politics in general is the beauty of democracy. Nowadays, however, the situation is not normal.

More than half of the homeland is affected by rains and floods. Most of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh and South Punjab are under water.

Most of the affected people are poor people who are losing their property, houses, cattle and loved ones in the flood. Millions of people have been displaced and forced to spend their days under the open sky.

The rains will stop and the floods will subside, but their problems will not end. On one side there is disease and on the other hand there is unemployment, apart from the rehabilitation of houses.

Rescue, relief and recovery will take weeks, not months. Not crores but billions of rupees will have to be allocated. All this should be enough to keep any government and government official busy. But then comes politics.

There is no doubt that the political temperature is running high at the moment.

FIRs are also being registered from both sides and factional press conferences are also being held. Nevertheless, it was expected that politics would not interfere in this natural disaster.

However, this hope proved to be in vain and now it is seen that all the parties are not letting any opportunity to criticize the opponent by using flood as an excuse. On the one hand, the meetings are being taken with open arms, on the other hand, photo sessions are the target of criticism. All this is affecting the necessary phase, rescue, relief and rehabilitation process for the flood victims.

The tragedy of the current political situation is that all political parties are in government in one form or another.

PML-N is in the federation, while Tehreek-e-Insaf is in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Sindh, People's Party is in power, while many smaller parties including MQM and JUIF are also in power.

If responsibility is created, no government or political party is exempt from it. Meanwhile, blaming any one party on the other is a sad situation in itself.

The flood situation did not arise in a couple of days.

Unusual rains have been going on in the country for some time. All governments are responsible for the delay in predicting floods after rains. This delay should now be remedied in the form of an urgent and comprehensive strategy and not in the form of blame-shifting.

If political parties cannot come together and find solutions to people's problems, then let each other work individually. This is the time when politics needs a break for some time and this is the time when it is important to put public interest before personal. Today's conditions are not normal conditions.
